Professor Jonathan Thacker


'From Enacting to Acting: the Evolution of Female Agency in Early Modern Spanish Drama'

Professor Jonathan Thacker is King Alfonso XIII Chair of Spanish Studies at the University of Oxford, and one of the world's leading scholars of Spain's Golden Age, and especially the comedia nueva. He has written extensively on  its translation and ideological contents, and his research into rehearsal and performance has transformed our understanding of early modern Spanish theatre. 

It is a privilege to have his ideas foreground our conversations in this conference.
